Dear Consultee,
Consultation on Scotland's Exotic Animal Disease Contingency Framework Plan and Communications Strategy
This letter is to tell you about Scottish Government's proposal to review and consolidate Scottish Government's existing contingency plans for most exotic animal diseases into a generic framework contingency plan. The Scottish Government commissioned this work following recommendations from the Foot and Mouth Disease Review (Scotland) 2007 by Professor Scudamore, which reviewed Scotland's handling of the foot and mouth disease outbreak in 2007. We are putting the plan out to public consultation to hear your views on the draft framework plan.
Scottish Government's Exotic Animal Disease Communication's Strategy, which compliments the framework plan has also been updated to reflect similar changes made in the framework plan. The Communications Strategy sets out the means and infrastructure used by Scottish Government to communicate to others during an outbreak of exotic animal disease.
An electronic copy of this letter and its associated documents are available on the SG website at: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Consultations/Current
Please send any views or comments you may have on the areas we have sought comment or any other area of our proposed implementation of the Directive to:
Andrew Urquhart, Room 358, Pentland House, Scottish Government Rural Directorate, Edinburgh, EH14 1TY, ( ahwcontingencyplanning@scotland.gsi.gov.uk).
The deadline for comments is Friday 6 March 2009.
Yours sincerely

ALASTAIR DOUGLAS
