4. It should be noted that a 2006 Taking Part report has also been published by the Scottish Arts Council. The findings with regards participation in and attendance at cultural activity are broadly similar to those found in the 2004 Taking Part survey. Notable differences between the 2004 and 2006 survey include a 6% increase in adult participation/attendance in cultural activity in Scotland overall; a significantly lower proportion of disabled adults attending or participating in cultural activity compared to the adult population as a whole.

5. C2DE - refers to a grouping of classification of individuals by Socio Economic Group ( SEG) compiled by UK Government National Statistics. The standard six social grades are based on the current or previous occupation of the chief income earner in the household. AB includes higher and intermediate managerial, administrative and professional occupations, C1 includes supervisory or clerical, and junior managerial, administrative or professional occupations, C2 includes skilled manual workers whilst DE includes semi and unskilled occupations, state pensioners and the long-term unemployed.

6. Note on data: The overseas figure may be slightly higher than the norm because of the survey locations.
