Working age people in employment, education or training ( EET)

The number of working age people in employment, education or training in Scotland was estimated to be 2.594 million in 2007 (81.1% of all working age people).

Table 22 shows the estimated proportion of working age people EET in 2007. The three local authority areas with the lowest estimated proportions were: Clackmannanshire (72.4%), Glasgow City (74.6%) and Inverclyde (75.1%).

In 2007, the proportion of working age people EET living in the 15% most deprived areas was estimated to be 63.4%, lower than that for the rest of Scotland at 84.0%.

Those living in accessible rural areas were most likely to be in employment, education or training (85.8%). This compares to 79.5% for those living in large urban areas.

Working age people living in the Highlands & Islands Enterprise area are also more likely to be EET (85.4%) compared to the those living in the rest of Scotland (80.7%).
