Children living in workless households
The proportion of dependent children aged under 19 years who were living in households where no one was in work was estimated to be 15.3% in 2007.

In 2007, the proportion of children living in workless households in the 15% most deprived areas was estimated to be 42.7% over four times that for the rest of Scotland at 10.5%.
In terms of urban/rural areas, in 2007, children in large urban areas were more likely to be living in a workless household (an estimated 21.8% of children in large urban areas were living in workless households compared to an estimated 5.1% of children living in remote rural areas).
In 2007, 7.4% of children living in the Highlands & Enterprise area were living in a workless household, compared to 16.0% of children in the rest of Scotland.
