Notes:
1. The denominator for the unemployment rate is economic activity (employed plus unemployed).
The unemployment rate estimate in the 15% most deprived areas at 11.4%, was nearly three times that for the rest of Scotland at 3.9%.
In terms of urban/rural areas, unemployment was highest in large urban areas and other urban areas at 5.4% and 5.2% respectively. This compares to an unemployment rate of only 2.6% for remote rural areas.
Unemployment in the Highlands & Islands Enterprise area was considerably lower than unemployment in the rest of Scotland (2.8% vs. 4.9%).
