NEXT STEPS

Proposed policy preparation and consultation timescales

The SEA will be undertaken alongside the further development of the Consultative Draft of the SPP. This has only recently commenced, providing an excellent opportunity to maximise policy iteration as a result of the SEA process. As with the SEA of SPP23, we intend to publish the Environmental Report for consultation alongside the Consultative Draft SPP, allowing for full and meaningful consultation on its content. Thereafter, any changes to the draft policy will be reviewed in order to define their environmental effects, and it is expected that any issues arising at that stage would be detailed (and assessed where required) in the Post Adoption SEA Statement.

The diagram below sets out the proposed programme for the SEA, alongside that expected for the drafting and consultation on the SPP.
