There are a number of ways that you can get involved in this discussion:

It would be helpful if your response followed the format of the questionnaire enclosed in this paper or on our website. In addition, to ensure we treat your response appropriately, please also complete and return the Respondent Information Form, also enclosed in this paper and on our website.

All responses should be with us by 9 May 2008.

2. By participating in one of the discussions we are planning across Scotland in May and part of June, details of which will be available soon on our website.

If you ask for your response not to be published we will regard it as confidential, and we will treat it accordingly. You should be aware that the Scottish Government is subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and would therefore have to consider any request made to it under the Act for information relating to responses made to this consultation exercise.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE CONSULTATION CLOSES?

Our aim is to consider all responses and views received by the closing date of Friday 9 May and during our discussions across the country and we will publish our response to this consultation by the end of the year.
