5 Monitoring
Section 19 of the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005 requires the Responsible Authority to monitor significant environmental effects of the implementation of the proposals in order to identify unforeseen adverse effects and to take appropriate remedial action.
At the scoping stage a list of possible indicators was produced in the Scoping Report and a number of comments were received from the Consultation Authorities in response. These responses were considered, along with the outcomes of the assessment exercise. The proposals themselves contain a list of suggested indicators specific to the SFM objectives - these were also considered for inclusion in the monitoring requirements due to their relevance and previous consultation.
The updated list of suggested indicators is listed in Table 5-1.
