In 2006-07:
Social Enquiry Reports
- A total of 41,359 Social Enquiry Reports (including supplementary reports) were submitted by Local Authorities to the Courts in 2006-07, down 2 per cent from the 2005-06 total of 42,043. The total of 41,359 corresponds to 113.0 reports per 10,000 population.
- A total of 35,565 Social Enquiry Reports (excluding supplementary reports) were submitted to the Courts in 2006-07, an increase of 1 per cent from 35,342 in 2005-06.
Community Service Orders
- A total of 5,937 Community Service Orders (excluding Probation Orders with a Requirement of Unpaid Work) were made in 2006-07, a marginal increase on the 2005-06 figure of 5,927. The total of 5,937 equates to 16.3 Orders per 10,000 population.
- 1,892 breach applications were made to the Courts in respect of Community Service Orders (excluding Probation Orders with a Requirement of Unpaid Work) in 2006-07, an increase of 26 per cent compared with the 1,502 breach applications in 2005-06.
- 5,432 Community Service Orders (excluding Probation Orders with a Requirement of Unpaid Work) were terminated (including orders which were successfully completed) in 2006-07, an increase of 7 per cent from the previous year's total of 5,093.
Probation Orders (including those with a requirement of unpaid work)
- A total of 8,404 Probation Orders were made in 2006-07, virtually unchanged compared to the level of 8,402 in 2005-06. The total of 8,404 corresponds to 23.0 Orders per 10,000 population.
- 3,650 breach applications were made to the Courts in respect of Probation Orders in 2006-07, an 8 per cent increase compared to the total of 3,375 in 2005-06.
- 6,755 Probation Orders were terminated in 2006-07, representing an increase of 7 per cent over the previous year's total of 6,328.
Probation Orders with a Requirement of Unpaid Work
- A total of 2,499 Probation Orders with a Requirement of Unpaid Work were made in 2006-07, representing a 7 per cent decrease from the 2005-06 total of 2,692. The total of 2,499 corresponds to 6.9 Orders per 10,000 population.
- 1,157 breach applications were made to the Courts in respect of POs with a Requirement of Unpaid Work in 2006-07, an increase of 4 per cent on the 1,110 applications in 2005-06.
Supervised Attendance Orders
- A total of 3,047 Supervised Attendance Orders were made in 2006-07, down 20 per cent from the total of 3,849 in 2005-06. The total of 3,047 corresponds to 8.4 Orders per 10,000 population.
- 1,125 breach applications were made to the Courts in respect of Supervised Attendance Orders in 2006-07, a decrease of 23 per cent from the 2005-06 total of 1,462.
- 2,742 Supervised Attendance Orders were terminated in 2006-07, a decrease of 6 per cent from the previous year's total of 2,912.
Drug Treatment and Testing Orders
- A total of 696 Drug Treatment and Testing Orders were made in 2006-07, up 16 per cent from 599 in 2005-06. The total of 696 in 2006-07 corresponds to 1.9 Orders per 10,000 population.
- In 2006-07 there were 318 breach application and 550 terminations of DTTOs, increases of 37 per cent and 18 per cent respectively on the 2005-06 figures.
Restriction of Liberty Orders
- A total of 1,018 Restriction of Liberty Orders were made in 2006-07, an increase of 3 per cent from 984 in 2005-06. The total of 1,018 corresponds to 2.8 Orders per 10,000 population.
- In 2006-07, 911 reports on RLO breaches were made, a decrease of 8 per cent from the total of 986 in 2005-06 1.
Statutory Throughcare
- In 2006-07, a total of 1,080 Throughcare (in the community) cases commenced, a decrease of 2 per cent from the 1,105 cases which commenced in 2005-06.
- A further 1,259 Throughcare (in custody) cases commenced, an increase of 16 per cent from the 1,082 cases which commenced in 2005-06.
Voluntary Assistance and the Throughcare Addiction Service
- There were a total of 2,234 individuals receiving voluntary assistance in 2006-07. This corresponds to 6.1 individuals per 10,000 population. In 2006-07, a total of 2,655 voluntary assistance cases commenced, representing 7.3 cases per 10,000 population.
- Of the voluntary assistance cases commenced in 2006-07, 1,530 related to the Throughcare Addiction Service ( TAS).
Home Circumstances Reports
- A total of 1,326 HCRs excluding home leave reports were reported in 2006-07, a decrease of 2 per cent on the 2005-06 figure of 1,361. Including home leave reports, 2,331 HCRs were reported in 2006-07.
Diversion from Prosecution
- A total of 1,133 Diversion from Prosecution cases commenced in 2006-07, a decrease of 5 per cent from the 2005-06 total of 1,198 cases.
Bail Information
- During 2006-07, 8,905 requests were made by Courts to local authorities for bail information, an increase of 11 per cent since 2005-06. A total of 782 bail supervision cases commenced in the year relating to 687 individuals.
Court Services
- A total of 2,741 stand down reports were provided to the Courts in 2006-07, an increase of 72 per cent on the 1,589 provided in 2005-06. In addition, 14,985 post sentence interviews were carried out and 45,055 Social Enquiry Reports were presented to the Courts out in 2006-07.
