12. Bail Information and Court Services ( Tables 12.1 and 12.2)

12.1 During 2006-07, the Courts made 8,905 requests for bail information to local authorities, up 11 per cent from 8,052 in 2005-06. A total of 782 bail supervision cases commenced in 2005-06, relating to a total of 687 individuals. This reflects decreases of 15 per cent and 11 per cent respectively on the 2005-06 figures of 917 cases and 774 individuals.

12.2 A total of 2,741 stand down reports were provided to the Courts in 2006-07, 687 of which were written and 2,054 were oral. The total figure represents an increase of 73 per cent on the 1,589 provided in 2005-06.

12.3 14,985 post sentence interviews were carried out in 2006-07, an increase of 3 per cent from 14,579 in 2004-05. Eighty per cent of the post sentence interviews carried out were for males.

12.4 45,055 SERs were presented to the Courts in 2006-07, a decrease of 9 per cent from 49,514 in 2005-06. For those authorities where a gender breakdown was available, 81 per cent of the SERs presented to Courts were for males.
