1. These are included in the totals for Scotland as a whole, which are given in Table 8.1. These figures exclude the Glasgow Subway, figures which appear in table 8.18 These services were supported by the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive until November 2005, when Scottish Ministers became responsible for supporting all Scotrail services. The Strathclyde Partnership for Transport took over the roles and functions of the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Authority and Executive from 1 April 2006.
2. Figures affected by industrial action.
3. Scheduled train kilometres are calculated by the Office of Rail Regulation using the published winter and summer timetables. Therefore, they do not take account of subsequent changes (e.g. cancellations and emergency timetables etc).
4. Loaded train kilometres represent the number of train kilometres actually run in passenger-carrying service. Therefore, they take account of (e.g.) cancellations and emergency timetables.
5. Adjusted approximately for general inflation using the Retail Prices index for the relevant calendar year (e.g. "2001" RPI used for 2001-02).
6. This figure is only a broad indication, because the ScotRail "scheduled" and SPT "loaded" train kilometres are on different bases.
