2. Main Points
- As at 31st March 2007, there were 633 Day Care services registered in Scotland, offering a total of 17,563 places at any one time and providing a service for 23,011 people.
- 6,887 places are in Day Care services intended for older people; these account for 39 per cent of all Day Care places in Scotland.
- A further 7,894 (45 per cent) are in Day Care services catering primarily for people with learning disabilities.
- 63 per cent of Day Care services are run by local authorities and over 74 per cent of all places are in local authority run services.
- People with learning disabilities use Day Care services most frequently, on average 3.6 days a week.
- There were 5,421 staff working in Day Care services in Scotland at 31 st March 2007. 63 per cent of these were care staff.
