On 31 March 2007 there were 44 care homes for physically disabled people providing 545 places and housing 488 residents.

Since March 2000 the number of care homes has increased by 5 from 39. In the same period, the number of registered places has fallen from 823, a reduction of 278 places, and the number of residents has dropped from 723, down by 235. Of the 44 care homes for physically disabled people, the majority, 34 (or 77 per cent) were operated by voluntary organisations. These voluntary homes offered 427 places to residents (78 per cent of all places). Of the remaining 10 care homes, 3 were operated by local authorities and 7 were in the private sector. The private sector has grown in size since March 2000 with an additional 4 care homes and 33 places by March 2007.
