1. Introduction

This report has been prepared by the Scottish Government and is intended to summarise and respond to the main points raised by respondents to the March 2007 consultation paper, seeking views on the Revision of Circular 15/1999; the Environmental Impact Assessment (Scotland) Regulations 1999, hereafter referred to as 'the consultation'.

The consultation sought views on the Scottish Government's proposals for the revision of Circular 15/1999. Almost 8 years after The Environmental Impact Assessment (Scotland) Regulations 1999 ('the Regulations') came into force, it was considered appropriate to take stock of the contents of the accompanying Circular to see whether it still represented the best advice.

The consultation paper issued on 30 March 2007 and responses were requested by 29 June 2007.

A copy of the consultation paper can be viewed at the following link: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2005/05/12110026/00285
