13. NEXT STEPS
In the light of the results of this consultation, the Scottish Government will issue a Direction to SEPA which details any additional waters that are to be considered as the additional shellfish waters. The Direction will give legal effect to the designations. A copy of the finalised Direction will be sent to all parties who respond to this consultation paper.
We also propose to work more closely with SEPA and the FSA(S) to review our designation process, to ensure that where appropriate future designations made under both the SWD and the SHD complement each other and reflect the expansion and activity of the shellfish industry as accurately as possible.
