C Errors in the previous edition

Unfortunately there were some minor errors in the figures in "Household Transport in 2005". We apologise for these.

Table C and Table 11 - some of the average given in these tables were too high, due to the effect of unrealistically large values being held in the database for a few cases. In some cases, a special code value ( e.g. for "999998" to indicate "not known") may have been typed incorrectly, and then been treated by the analysis program as if it were a valid value - which, because it was exceptionally high, raised the overall average markedly. Table C in this edition contains the corrected figures for all years. Table 8 in this edition shows a correct pattern of variation of average expenditure on fuel for cars with annual net household income, urban/rural classification and number of cars available to the household - which therefore supersedes the figures shown in Table 11 of the previous edition.

Table L - some of the figures shown for 2005 were wrong, due to errors in the underlying data which were subsequently corrected. Table O in this edition provides corrected figures for 2005.

Table 4 - the row heading "17-19" should have been "16-19". The error was in the labelling - the figures themselves related to 16-19 year olds.

Chart G - the two lines at the foot of chart G were wrong, because they were using the wrong series. The version of the chart in this edition shows the corrected figures.
