1 From 1999 to 2001, the questionnaire referred to expenditure on fuel for "motor vehicles". Approximately 95% of the households' motor vehicles were cars. In 2002 and Q1 2003 the question was not asked. With effect from April 2003, the question refers to cars only, and any cases for which a value of "999" (or more) was recorded have been excluded.
