Note: The number of childminders is an estimate based on the total number of registered childminders (6,020) provided by the Care Commission, and includes the 8 per cent who responded to the survey saying they were inactive. Childminder numbers are rounded to the nearest 10 and percentages to the nearest per cent, so totals may not equal the sum of their parts. See Appendix 2 for confidence intervals.

Where possible, where centres did not supply information on the main service provided, information provided in 2006 has been used.
