APPENDIX D: PROFORMA FOR NEW FLOOD ASSET DATABASE INFORMATION

Information required for new flood defence schemes

For all new schemes designed and constructed after the completion of the flood asset defence database, the following information would be required. Blank GIS tables in the form of Shapefiles for ESRI users or Tab files for MapInfo users are available.

If the authority does not have access to GIS then the attribute information for each asset will need to be entered into blank access database tables that will contain information as shown in earlier in Section D.1 Appendix D. The assets will then need to be digitised from the 'as-built' or survey drawings to obtain the correct geographical position.

Drawings

A number of drawings are required for each new scheme these include:

  • Signed FPS drawings of the scheme - to be supplied as scanned as TIF and PDF Formats.
  • As-Built drawings - to be supplied as DWG / DXF and PDF Formats.
  • Any survey drawings (i.e. Cross Sections, Topographic Survey, Spot Levels) - to be supplied as DWG / DXF and PDF Formats.

List of Operations

The list of operations - to be supplied as A4 sized PDF

Flood Outlines

Flood outlines for 100yr, 200yr, 1000yr and Standard of Protection, both defended and undefended - to be supplied as Shapefiles, MapInfo tab files or DXF format

Areas benefiting from the scheme

The area benefiting from the scheme to be supplied as Shape files, MapInfo tab files or DXF format, with the associated Standard of Protection in return period and Annual exceedance probability.

Location of Assets

Flood defence assets are required in a GIS format (Shape files or MapInfo tab files) containing at the minimum the attribute and condition information for each asset as per database tables.

Hydrology Details

The point where each flow is calculated is required in a GIS format (Shape files or MapInfo tab files) as a point with attribute information as shown in Appendix E.

Model Files

All hydraulic modelling software files (i.e. HEC- RAS, InfoWorks, ISIS) to be supplied.

Tidal Levels

All tide levels used in the design or modelling of the scheme to be supplied with methods of derivation.

Climate Change

Details of the climate change used in the design or modelling of the scheme to be supplied (i.e. area, flows, methodology).
