CHAPTER 10: SCOTTISH FLOOD DEFENCE ASSET DATABASE
Asset Database
10.171 The Scottish Flood Defence Asset Database was developed in SQL Server 2000. The structure of the database is detailed in Appendix D. The table and field definitions of the tables within the database are also detailed in Appendix D.
Information in the Asset Database
10.172 Within the database, information is stored in relation to the Flood Prevention Scheme in a hierarchical format. Under each Flood Prevention Scheme is information on the scheme itself including the name, year of construction, local authority details, location and description. For each Flood Prevention Scheme information is available on asset types making up the scheme and other associated data such as the current condition of the scheme and the scheme flood extents. For each asset type within the scheme are individual asset tables providing further information specific to that asset.
10.173 The structure of the database and the table and field definitions of the tables within the database are detailed in Appendix D. The Flood Defence Asset tables are broken down in the database into each individual type of Flood Defence Asset identified during the data collection part of the project. The types of Flood Defence Asset tables are also detailed in Appendix D.
10.174 Geographical information such as the location of each scheme and the defences within the scheme are stored in an associated Geographical Information System ( GIS). For example, the GIS displays the location of a scheme, the defences within the scheme and the location of any faults and photographs recorded during the condition assessment.
