MODERNISATION THROUGH ELECTRONIC DATA MANAGEMENT (Tier 2)
Articles 20(b)(i) and 20(b)(ii)
Measure Code (121) and (122)
Rationale for Intervention
Utilisation of new technology products is currently low. Available products are designed to improve business efficiency, help reduce diffuse pollution, improve animal health and welfare and the productivity of forests.
The initial costs often involved are seen as a barrier to investment. This measure will, therefore, encourage land managers to modernise management/business practices leading to more efficient processes in land-based businesses and generally an improvement in overall economic performance.
Objectives
The main objective will be to improve the competitiveness of agricultural and forestry businesses through the modernisation of technology on agricultural and forestry holdings.
Scope and Actions
Support for investment in electronic hardware and software to improve the performance of agricultural and forestry businesses. This includes precision farming equipment, electronic weigh cell, electronic ear tag readers and forestry planning equipment. However, it does not include the purchase of PCs or laptops.
Definition of Beneficiaries
Agricultural and forestry businesses.
Description of the requirements and targets with regard to the improvement of the overall performance of the agricultural holdings.
