(Revised March 2007)

STATUS: - IMMEDIATE - ACTION REQUIRED

SECTIONS 10 AND 11 OF THE MANAGEMENT OF OFFENDERS ETC, (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005:-

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MULTI AGENCY PUBLIC PROTECTION ARRANGEMENTS (MAPPA) IN SCOTLAND

1. A second version of Circular 15/2006 containing the MAPPA Guidance as developed by the lead agencies on the MAPPA Working Group was issued on 13 March 2007. In addition to this guidance, NHS Health Department Letter HDL (2007) 19 was issued to Health contacts on 28 March 2007.

2. A third version incorporating chapters on Strategic Management, Performance Management and Quality Assurance and a model Annual Report will be issued from the end of May 2007. This Addendum however is being issued in advance of the next version of the Guidance to allow agencies to commence using the attached standardised notification, referral and minute templates immediately.

3. The templates have been developed and agreed by the multi agency MAPPA Working Group. These forms may be amended by the Working Group at a future date in the light of practical experience. It is also the intention that a MAPPA minute template will be available on ViSOR in due course.

4. New versions of the flow charts of the Integrated Case Management process relating to MAPPA (pages 19 and 20 of the Guidance) are also attached and further clarify the notification and referral process.

Implementation Progress

5. A further implementation progress template will be sent to the implementation group contacts shortly. Further requests for progress will be made as implementation proceeds.

6. If you have any queries regarding this addendum or the MAPPA Guidance, please address these to your representative on the MAPPA Working Group in the first instance. The contact details for members are provided below.
