Regulatory Impact Assessments

31. Where domestic legislation, proposals for EC Directives, other European legislation and other proposed international obligations have an impact in relation to Scotland on the costs of businesses, charities or voluntary bodies, a regulatory impact assessment will need to be prepared by DfT or, in the case of legislation in the Scottish Parliament, by the Executive. DfT and the Executive will discuss the most appropriate means in each case for obtaining the information necessary for each of them to fulfil their respective responsibilities, and will provide advice and support to the other as appropriate. DfT and the Executive will also co-operate where either of them decides to carry out a regulatory impact assessment for certain proposals other then by reason of an anticipated impact on costs.
