Notes
1. Types of employment
Voluntary Work - The person does not get paid but may get expenses.
Non-open Employment - All the people doing the work task are people with learning disabilities and the workplace has been set up specifically for people with learning disabilities. The person gets an allowance rather than a wage for the work they do.
Open Employment - The person is included in a staff group that has people who don't have learning disabilities and gets the going rate for the job. There is an open market demand for the service provided or the manufactured goods produced. Posts have been or could be put out to open job adverts.
2. Care should be taken when comparing figures between years. Differences between these figures can be partially accounted for by changes to improvements in data collection techniques as well as actual changes in the numbers known to authorities.
3. Some figures have not been displayed (*) for individual local authorities to maintain confidentiality.
