Notes
1. The numbers of adults as a percentage of all adults known to a local authority are estimates as the figures may not have come from the same base of individuals.
2. Care should be taken when comparing figures between years. Differences between these figures can be partially accounted for by improvements in data collection techniques as well as actual changes in the numbers known to authorities. East Lothian, City of Edinburgh and Stirling all reported improved data collection for this question methods in 2006.
3. Some figures have not been displayed (*) for individual local authorities to maintain confidentiality.
