ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
In a project of this duration there are inevitably staff changes, both in the consultant's team and in the Scottish Executive staff overseeing the work. Staff from GEN who started working on the project and subsequently moved on were: Louise Christie, Loraine Gray and Laura McIntyre. Within the Executive the project was initially supervised by Cara McKee. Her role was taken over briefly by Elizabeth Shevlin and then by Euan Dick. During the project's final stages Liz Levy was responsible for its direction and seeing the work through to publication. We are especially grateful to her for her hard work and guidance that resulted in the final product being more coherent than would otherwise have been the case. On the Executive's policy side David Fotheringham and Audrey Sneddon were responsible for the project, although after Audrey left, to take up other responsibilities within the Executive, her role was taken over by Gillian McCole. We are grateful to them all for the work and advice they contributed to the project.
We are also grateful to the Research Advisory Group. At various stages throughout the project Group members made useful contributions and were able to bring their practical experience to bear on our work and findings.
We must also express our grateful thanks to the warden scheme managers throughout Scotland. They provided us with large amounts of information and were willing to answer our many questions. Thanks are especially due to the managers of the 9 case study schemes. They had to bear the brunt of our questioning as well as being pestered to arrange meetings and pass on contact details for other partners. Without their willingness to play an active role in the evaluation the work is unlikely ever to have reached a conclusion.
Needless to say any errors in the report and the interpretation that has been placed on the information is solely our responsibility.
