CHAPTER SEVEN: OTHER COMMENTS ON SECTION ONE (THE BASIS FOR CHANGE)

7.1 OTHER COMMENTS

A small number of consultees chose to write their overall comments on aspects of 'Why Children and Young People are Different', 'The National Policy Context for Children and Young People in Scotland' and 'Health Services Fit for Children and Young People' within the 'additional comments' section. Where appropriate, these comments have been included in the previous three chapters where relevant. The following are additional comments which were more generic in nature, mostly concerning the need for resources and funding:

"The need for additional resources (or realignment of resources) and extra support cannot be underestimated."
Individual

"The need for adequate resources to be in place is pivotal to the delivery of the Framework."
Professional Body

Another quote came from an Individual (Professional) who stated that, "I am very concerned that despite recognition that there are increasing numbers of children with complex healthcare needs, no mention was made in the draft document of the role of Community Children's Nurses". Another Individual (Professional) commented that, "I think you have missed an opportunity to recognise the input of General Practice to child care…there must be more you can do to link up with General Practice. I think it is essential to raise the profile of children and young people here".

A Local Authority commented that, "There is no mention of community development approaches to health or the effectiveness of the impact of some peer led approaches. There is significant mention of NHS Boards and Community Health Partnerships and Schools but Community Learning is not prominent".
