12 Month Evaluation of the FPN Pilot in Tayside Police Force Area

Topic Guide

The general areas of discussion are outlined below with some questions. These questions are intended to help generate discussion, and allow you the opportunity to describe your impressions and experiences. Please try to respond to all the questions, but if there are other things you think should be mentioned, please do so.

Prior Perceptions of FPNs

Before the introduction of the FPN pilot, did you think there was a need for a new approach to ASB?

Were you initially in favour of the introduction of FPNs?

Review of FPN Experience

Do you think that FPNs have had an effect on ASB over the course of the pilot?

What has been the effect of the pilot on your operational practices?

In terms of:

Training

Discretional responsibility

Workload

Change in working practice

Financial costs/benefits to organisation

Has it had an impact on your working relationship with other organisations/individuals?

How has your experience of the FPN pilot altered your initial response?

Interviews/Focus groups will be tape recorded for analysis. You will be requested to provide permission for the use of quotes. If, at the end of the meeting, you wish certain sections to remain anonymous or confidential then a note to that effect will be made and it will be treated accordingly.
