13 Conclusions
- The pilot was widely felt to have been successful from the perspective of Tayside Police. The issuing of FPNs by police officers for less serious acts of antisocial behaviour has been well received.
- The largest issues associated with the introduction related firstly to the implementation of the IT system and the integration with existing systems proceeded successfully.
- There were important time savings for Tayside Police and this has also assisted time saving with the COPFS as fewer cases are reported by the police and fewer Fiscal fines were issued.
- The impact on antisocial behaviour is not yet entirely clear, however the re-offending rate is low and future research will be in a position to determine the longer-term effects.
