Footnotes
1 To gather this information, schools commonly draw on on-line National Assessments. These assessments (which have replaced National Tests) are designed as a tool for teachers to confirm judgements about children's levels of attainment, and should form only part of a range of evidence teachers consider to arrive at these judgements. The sample-based Scottish Survey of Achievement is now used to monitor attainment at a national level.
