ANNEX 7
PRESCRIBED NETWORK-WIDE SUPPORT SERVICES

Tenderers are to:

  • prepare a brochure covering all routes on the CHFS Network;
  • have a single contact point for information and reservations (currently this is 08705 650000); and
  • provide a website for bookings, seasonal timetables, on-line information, help desk, and an early warning system to alert customers to disruptions to any of the services.

Reservations and sales are currently also available through travel agents in the UK and abroad. Tenderers will be required to provide a similar level of information and ticket availability to customers.

There are reciprocal arrangements between CFL and local authorities to publish (in their own timetables) the timetables for each others' ferry services. Details of these can be obtained from the timetables on the CalMac website ( www.calmac.co.uk).

Links with Rail Services

Rail tickets can be purchased -at Brodick and Rothesay for travel to the following stations:

  • Brodick to Paisley (Gilmour Street), Greenock (Central), Glasgow (Central) and Ayr; and
  • Rothesay to Port Glasgow, Paisley (Gilmour Street) and Glasgow (Central)

In addition tickets for the Ardrossan-Brodick and Wemyss Bay-Rothesay routes can be purchased from any rail station in the UK.

Ticket Sales through Travel Agents

Tenderers will wish to note that CFL has an arrangement in place with travel agents who sell tickets for the CHFS Services. It is a requirement of this ITT that tickets for the CHFS Services are at least as widely available as they are now. However, the arrangements with travel agents are a commercial matter for Tenderers to consider.

Arrangements with other Travel Operators

Tenderers will wish to note that CFL currently has arrangements in place (e.g. Freedom of Scotland Travel Pass, Highland Rover) with other travel operators. However, these arrangements are a commercial matter for Tenderers to consider.

Ticketing Systems

Tenderers may wish to consider purchasing the current CFL ticketing system which comprises 41 Storm portable ticket machines. Further information is available in the Information Room in the list of CFL assets.
