Introduction
This booklet gives guidance about NHS charges in Scotland.
Most NHS treatment is free, although there can be charges for some things. This booklet tells you what you are entitled to. It also tells you about the help you might get with the cost of the following if you are on a low income:
- NHS prescriptions;
- NHS dental treatment;
- Glasses, contact lenses and eye examinations;
- NHS wigs and fabric supports from a hospital (spinal or abdominal supports or surgical brassiere);
- necessary costs of travel to an NHS hospital for treatment.
