NEXT STEPS

Next Steps in the Development of the Operational Programmes

48. Following the closing date, all responses to this consultation, and the parallel consultation on the Strategic Environmental Assessment report of ERDF programmes, will be analysed and considered along with all other available evidence to help Ministers reach decisions on final Operational Programmes. We aim to issue a report on this consultation process by February 2006.

49. Once Operational Programmes have been revised to take account of consultation responses they will be submitted to the European Commission by Scottish Ministers. From that point there will be a period of negotiation between the Executive and the European Commission on the content of the programmes. The European Commission will have a period of up to five months to approve the programmes under Council Regulation 2004/0163.
