The Action Plan
The action plan lists the steps we have, at this stage, all agreed to take. To show we mean business, we have indicated how long each should take and who will do it. The timescales against each are a combination of priority and the time each needs to take. The actions are grouped into those we expect to be able to achieve within 6 months, 18 months and 3 years. It is important to note that these are deadlines for completion, not starting dates.
The actions are themed as sustainable, profitable and well-managed Scottish sea fisheries but they are also interconnected and interdependent. The sector needs to be sustainable to be profitable and vice versa, and well-managed to be both. It is essential that we move forward on all three, together. It is also essential that we move forward in a dynamic way that can respond to changing circumstances and new information. This will be an important feature of the way this action plan is taken forward as described at the end of this document.
