Weighted workload units (amniocentesis 1.3, CVS 2.1, bloods 1, oncology 2.5, solid tissues 1.4, FISH 1.5) give a Scottish total of 19960.2 workunits.

The accepted norm is 250 workunits per WTE* (this includes scientists, technicians and support staff) and thus the current workload equates to 79.84 WTE.

To bring the current workforce of 69.9 WTE up to the target level requires 9.94 WTE new posts (£350k per annum)
