National Practice Forum
The National Practice Forum ( NPF) is a new structure being developed to ensure robust practitioner perspective is input into policy implementation for a range of Scottish Executive policies and initiatives.
The forum will build upon the excellent work undertaken, over the last few years in the field of Community Care, by the Carenap National Users Forum. NPF will have national coverage, being inclusive of all the 14 Local Data Sharing Partnerships throughout Scotland.
NPF will provide a reference framework for a range of Scottish Executive policies and initiatives, ensuring that there are direct links between policy and practice. It will enable those on the 'front line' to have an effective voice in the formulation andimplementation of new policies and guidelines related to electronic information sharing.
The forum will be formally launched in late September at Hampden Park, Glasgow, by Paul Gray, Director of Primary and Community Care at the Scottish Executive, Elaine Grieve Assistant Chief Executive, Orkney Islands Council, who will be the NPF Chair, and Professor Alison Petch from Research into Practice for Adults ( RiPfA).
A NPF Coordinator, Brian Duffy, formerly of the Renfrewshire Joint Care Partnership, has been appointed to help develop the Forum and to take responsibility for the setting up of the various work streams that the Forum will engage in over the coming year.
Whilst those within Community Care are well versed in the vagaries of an electronic Single Shared Assessment, the Forum's remit will also include the Integrated Children's Services agenda, which is a major area of work for all Health Boards, Social Work, Housing, Police and Education services over the coming period.
NPF will also be launching a dedicated web site in September which will provide both a 'public' face to its work and will also provide a working area for members to contribute to the discussions on the various work streams.
