A Local Perspective from the Ayrshire & Arran
Data Sharing Partnership
The Ayrshire & Arran Data Sharing Partnership is working to improve the experience of people who access care services via secure electronic sharing of information and joint service provision, and in particular, supports joined-up working.
The launch of version 1.0 of the Scottish Executive's eCare Framework in May 2006 has provided the partnership with the opportunity to consolidate the considerable work and effort that has gone in to developing and delivering a local framework for secure information sharing between partnership agencies. The local partners involved to date are East Ayrshire Council, North Ayrshire Council, South Ayrshire Council and NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
The delivery by the Scottish Executive of framework was an exciting high point upon which the Ayrshire Consortium eCare Project under MGF2 could conclude its work to finalise local developments and hand over to the newly inaugurated Ayrshire & Arran Data Sharing Partnership to continue implementation of what has become a fully robust and comprehensive solution.
In Ayrshire & Arran we have taken a real partnership collaborative approach to developing our electronic sharing environment and are looking forward to continuing and broadening this approach as the partnership and the information sharing environment expands.
Our developments have been set out and led by the practitioners who will use the framework supported on an ongoing basis by the management of the respective partner agencies. Importantly, we have learned from and with other local partnership areas in Scotland.
We have also valued the ongoing support provided by the Scottish Executive's Data Sharing and Standards Division and enjoyed taking advantage of the many opportunities that have existed to contribute to a national solution which is flexible enough to meet local needs.
