Appendix 2: Weaknesses of Streetsense
- At the lower levels the spaces to write or draw in are too small
- The resource should be in primary stages rather than levels
- Not enough worksheets to reinforce the road safety message
- Too much language based activities
- The illustrations for D&E look more appropriate to the age group
- Language I worksheets is difficult for poor readers and rely heavily on the teacher for guidance
- There's a great deal of detail in some of the illustrations - can be confusion for children
- Used level A with P1 - some of the worksheets were too simple and some of the activities more geared towards nursery level
- Some of the worksheets were too difficult for P1 without a lot of input from the teacher
- Teacher must be made aware that it's not necessary to do all the activities
- Some worksheets were too complicated to complete independently
- Some of the activities are very similar - more variety would be beneficial
- Has been referenced to CDROM which we don't seem to have
- Could do with more posters - difficult to share as 4 classes may be using a particular level at the same time
- Difficult to carry out all activities due to the time allowed for health and a crowded curriculum.
