Diabetes is a long term and progressive condition with potentially devastating consequences for health. Over 170,000 people in Scotland have been diagnosed with diabetes and it is believed that many thousands more have the condition but have not yet been diagnosed. The Action Plan, which follows on from the Scottish Diabetes Framework published in 2002, sets a challenging agenda for the next three years to improve diabetes care in Scotland.
