Our thanks, first and foremost, must go to all of the adults and young people who we interviewed and who so generously gave their time. They shared their stories and thoughts with us openly, and without them we would have been unable to even begin this study.
We would also like to thank all the local authorities and voluntary organisations which helped us to contact the adults and young people in the study. Managers and workers went out of their way to arrange meetings and facilitate the interviews. People in these organisations warmly welcomed the opportunity for looked after young people and adults to talk about their success.
