The researchers wish to thank the Scottish Executive Transport Division for their overall management of this study. They, together with the members of the Advisory Group provided valuable input at all stages of the research. Members of the group included representatives of the Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland; the Association of Transport Co-ordinating Officers; the Confederation of Passenger Transport; The Disability Rights Commission and the Equalities Unit at the Scottish Executive.
In particular we are appreciative of the various groups representing disabled people who provided access to their members; invited us to their meetings; provided us with existing reports and other information; and provided feedback on our research. Transport operators also provided feedback and supplied information and gave generously of their time to the researchers preparing case studies, for which we are.grateful.
Most importantly, our thanks go to everyone who participated in the primary research. This includes the 703 individuals who gave up their time to take part in the survey, having previously participated in the Scottish Household Survey. It also includes participants in audits and focus groups from:
- Edinburgh Mobility Unit staff, pupils and ex-pupils from The Royal Blind School, Edinburgh.
- Staff and residents at the Margaret Blackwood Housing complexes in Glasgow and Dundee.
