SECTION 5: MONITORING

Regulation 21 of the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes (Scotland) Regulations requires the Responsible Authority to monitor significant environmental effects of the implementation of the plan/programme to enable them to identify unforeseen adverse effects and to take appropriate remedial action.

The final NTS, once published, will set out a small number of performance indicators broadly based on the transport goals of the strategy. The intention is for the NTS to be reviewed on a four year basis.

The monitoring programme for the SEA cannot be stated at present until agreement is reached on the monitoring indicators for the NTS. The post-adoption SEA statement will provide further details.
