What carers said
Carers told us that good day services were very important to people with learning disabilities.
Day services also helped families to keep on caring.
Carers said that day services should help people with learning disabilities get the most out of life.
People with learning disabilities and their families should be involved in planning changes to day services. Some people told us that things have changed since The same as you? was written. In some places this has been good, but not everywhere.
The main things that carers said were important were:
Having plenty of good staff to run good day services.
That people using day services should get to help decide about what things they do. People using the centres should be asked more about changes.
Families should be involved too, because they are close to them and the day service is important for everyone in the family.
Carers saw that doing different things was good for people with learning disabilities. It made them happy.
Some carers were worried that there would not be day centres anymore and that would not be good for everyone.
