Subject: Consultation on the Draft Student Fees

Dear Lindsey ,

I am responding to the consultation on the Draft Student Fees (specification) (Scotland) Order 2005 on behalf

of Napier University. I am content for the details of this response to be made available to the public .

Napier is broadly supportive of the proposals set out in the consultation document .

However we wish to re-enforce the sector-wide concerns that have been made separately by Universities

Scotland in relation to :

• the timescales for implementation delays in the confirmation of student tuition fees for 2006/07

• communication to prospective students and their families/friends

• the administrative load on institutions

We therefore urge the Scottish Executive to work with HEIs to enhance understanding about the tuition fees

regime in Scotland, and to minimise the anticipated administrative costs .
