Annex F: Care Homes that have Opened, Closed or Deregistered March 2000 - September 2005
The table below shows the number of homes that have opened, closed or deregistered to become housing support services between March 2000 and September 2005. This is the only table in this publication that contains historical data which includes homes that deregistered to housing support.

Notes:
1. 'Registered in March 2000' - The number of care homes by client group that were open on 31 March 2000. 2,078 care homes were open on this date.
2. 'Closed in-between March 2000 and September 2005' - The number of care homes by client group that have closed in-between March 2000 and September 2005. 359 care homes have closed in total during this period.
3. 'De-registered to Housing Support since March 2002' - The number of care homes that deregistered with the Care Commission to become a Housing Support service. This is broken down by client group since March 2002. These homes are therefore omitted from the Scottish Care Home Census as they are no longer registered as a service providing care. 467 homes have deregistered since March 2002.

16 were primarily for physical disabilities
94 were primarily for adults with mental health problems
288 were primarily for adults with learning disabilities
53 were primarily for other client groups
4. 'Opened in-between March 2000 and September 2005' - The number of care homes by client group that have opened in-between March 2000 and September 2005. This figure will include any homes that opened, registered as a care service but then deregistered to become a Housing Support service. 246 care homes have opened in total during these 3 years.
5. 'Registered in September 2005' - The number of care homes by client group that were open and registered with the Care Commission as a service providing care on 30 September 2005. 1,501 homes were open on this date.
