Footnotes for Part One - Young people's views about FE

  1. PCS = Mayer Johnson Picture Communication Symbols, widely used across Scotland at pre-school, school and post-school levels, to support learners with severely impaired communication.
  2. Widgit Rebus symbols, now in colour, provide a wider vocabulary for adults with support for more complex grammatical structures. This system was designed primarily to support the transition to literacy for people with communication and literacy difficulties.
