Section 3 - Filling in the application form

Front page - Business details

Fill in details as shown on your SAF form.

1 Land ownership and control

Fill in this section if you choose any of the options 6 to 17.

This will make sure that someone is responsible for meeting the requirements of the options for the full five years.

You must answer question 1. If appropriate, the rest of the section should be filled in by the person who will take over your responsibilities if you stop having control of the land.

2 Working out your allowance

You have a maximum yearly allowance (the most you can claim in that year) based on the total area of land used for agriculture, as declared in your 2006 IACSSAF. This is the total of boxes X and Y on your field data sheets and your estimated share of common grazings which should be calculated by multiplying the area of the common grazing by your share of the common as declared in Section 6 of the SAF. We will check these areas and adjust your allowance where necessary. In working out your allowance you must take into account any 5 year commitments entered into in 2005.

3 Choosing your options

Your choice of options 6-15 will be accepted as a contract to carry out these commitments in full. Failure to meet all the requirements of these options will be treated as a breach.

Annex A shows a completed example of calculating your allowance and selecting your options.

4 Quality Assurance Membership Details

You must fill in the details of any Quality Assurance Scheme you are a member of and you wish to apply for.

5 Shared Boundary Features

If you have entered any shared boundary features under options 7 and 15 please complete the shared boundary agreement. If you need additional copies of the agreement contact your area office.

6 Management of Permanent Pasture

If you chose the LMCMS options 8 and 13 (Management of moorland grazing and Summer Cattle Grazing), you must maintain the overall area of permanent pasture on your farm or croft. You must also keep an agreed number of animals on that pasture to make sure environmental damage is not caused by overgrazing or underuse.

You must fill in the table in section 6 of the Menu Scheme application form to work out the number of animals you must have grazing on the permanent pasture on your farm or croft in any year.
