Background

In January 2005 the Scottish Executive published a consultation paper on the Regulation of Independent Ambulance Services. The consultation paper can be accessed by clicking on www.scotland.gov.uk/consultations/health/iastr-00.asp.
Responses to the consultation paper were invited from various organisations and individuals on whether they felt that independent ambulance services should be added to the list of services regulated under the Care Act by the Care Commission. 33 responses were received. Out of the 33, one respondee has asked for their response to remain confidential. The others can be viewed here.
