Scottish Executive Direct Funding for the Voluntary Sector
Information Leaflet

Our commitment to the voluntary sector

The Scottish Executive's Compact with the voluntary sector commits us to promoting a healthy voluntary sector through public funding based on clear measures of performance.

The Information Pack is to help voluntary organisations when making an application for funding to the Scottish Executive.

The Information Pack contains the following:

  • A Guide for the Voluntary Sector to Scottish Executive Grants
  • Information leaflet on Scottish Executive Direct Funding for the Voluntary Sector
  • Basic Application form
  • Notes on completing the Application
  • Equality monitoring form (optional)
  • The pack may also contain a supplementary section relating to the scheme in which you have expressed an interest.

Our commitment to good practice in funding

In line with best practice in the strategic funding of voluntary organisations, Scottish Executive funding is available:

  • For activities that promote Scottish Executive objectives;
  • To support capacity building within organisations on the basis of agreed outputs;
  • To fund core management, administrative and relevant training costs where an organisation has a continuing role in the delivery of particular policy objectives;
  • For national generic infrastructure organisations and associated local network to promote the growth and effectiveness of voluntary and community organisations;
  • On a time-limited basis, for innovative projects where the Scottish Executive has a particular interest in taking forward an experimental approach.

Only on an exceptional basis will funding be made available for local service delivery organisations. (Public sector funding for local bodies would be expected to come from other agencies, such as local authorities, health boards, local enterprise companies and some non-departmental public bodies.)

Our commitment to equality

The Scottish Executive is committed to the mainstreaming of equality across all of its Departments. Please therefore enclose a copy of your organisation's capacity or diversity policy with the Application. If your organisation does not have one, please tell us what you are doing to develop policy on this issue.
