7 Is SFP Farm Income?

Do you regard the SFP as?

  • Farm Income, to support farm production the same as current subsidies
  • Non-farm income, top support household purchases, the same as from other jobs, pensions or investments
  • Don't know

42. All 2756 respondents answered this question. The most widely held view of the respondents (72%) was that the SFP is farm income. A minority of respondents (0.2%) considered the SFP to be both farm income and non-farm income.

43. The sub categories of respondents provided results broadly in line with the overall sample. The respondents from crofts and small farms tended to be less decisive in their answers and selected 'don't know' more than the overall sample. Correspondingly fewer proportions of respondents from crofts and small farms selected either of the other options.

44. Conversely, non-crofting and non-small farming respondents were slightly more decisive than the overall sample and higher proportions of these subsections selected either farm income or non-farm income.
